At CDR we help babies and toddlers with disabilities and developmental delays walk and talk, eat and play. We help keep those who are at risk for developmental delay safer and healthier. We help parents grow into their role as their child’s primary educator and teach them how to be the most important person in their child’s early education and development.
Child Development Resources, Inc. (CDR) is a 501(c)3 public charity that provides services to young children and families and training and technical assistance for the professionals who serve them. A Safety Quiz on Choking Hazards
This knowledge test was developed by Safety CAP: Children’s Asphyxiation Prevention Project, a project of the Virginia Department of Health, Preventing Unintentional Injuries Project
The Safety Cap project is designed to prevent asphyxiation and other unintentional injuries during sleep, feeding, and play in young children (birth through age 4), especially for families who are at-risk for child abuse and neglect, developmental delay, and poor health outcomes.
The activities of the project include:
· Develop a Home Safety Review that will assess home safety and educate families of children birth to 4 years of age.
· Conduct home visits that assess safety and educate families with children who are at-risk for poor health and development.
· Distribute equipment (e.g., portable cribs for safe sleep) and other safety materials.
· Present safety information and disseminate materials at parent group meetings.
· Provide early childhood and early intervention professionals with information and materials that will in turn educate additional families about safety.
